An Enchanted Forest Wedding at The 1909 in Topanga Canyon
A Romantic Autumn Wedding in Topanga Canyon
Gabby and Hunter’s October wedding at The 1909 in Topanga Canyon felt like stepping straight into a storybook. Nestled among towering trees with golden light filtering through the leaves above, their celebration brought enchanted forest dreams to life with rich autumn colors, cozy details, and the warmth of their closest loved ones.
From College Harmonies to “I Do”
The couple first met in college through their a capella group, and from the start, there was an undeniable spark. Years later, Hunter planned a surprise beach proposal surrounded by friends. With twinkling lights, champagne, and Taylor Swift’s “You Are In Love” playing in the background, Gabby said yes—setting the stage for a love story that would continue under the canopy of Topanga Canyon.

The 1909: An Enchanted Forest Wedding Venue
When searching for the perfect wedding venue, Gabby and Hunter were drawn to The 1909 for its professionalism, privacy, and fairytale-like setting. They envisioned a celebration that felt like wandering through an enchanted forest—complete with string lights, rich greenery, and hidden corners that feel almost otherworldly. (If you’re dreaming of a Topanga Canyon wedding, you can see another celebration I photographed at The 1909 here.)
The design of their wedding was inspired by woodland romance with a rich palette of dark green, black, gold, and lavender. Every detail—from the florals to the cake—tied seamlessly into the enchanted forest vision the couple imagined.
The morning began with quiet anticipation as Gabby and Hunter got ready separately with their closest friends. Their first look, tucked along one of The 1909’s wooded trails, was private and heartfelt—a moment just for the two of them before the celebrations began.
The ceremony unfolded on the venue’s deck, surrounded by trees glowing in the warm autumn light. With heartfelt vows and the sound of leaves rustling overhead, it felt like nature itself was part of their story.
Cocktail hour gave way to sunset portraits on the property. As the evening cooled, string lights lit up the outdoor reception under the stars, as laughter and dancing carried late into the evening before everyone mored indoors to the cozy main house.
