Perfect Rainy-Day Engagement Session at Pasadena City Hall
On a cozy, rainy winter day, A & K met me in downtown Pasadena, where they shared their favorite boba drinks and we explored a cute alleyway filled with shops and cafes.
The glow of the late holiday lights looked particularly inviting in juxtaposition with the cool weather. It was such a joy to spend a couple of hours with this couple, and I’m so excited to be photographing their wedding at Brea Community Center later this year. ♥
A Quick Note about Rain on Your Photoshoot Day
It’s always tempting to reschedule a photoshoot when rain is forecasted. If your session is primarily outdoors, such in a field or at the beach, then I’d definitely consider finding another date.
But here’s a fun fact about rain: On movie sets, when the filmmakers want the scene to look particularly romantic or ethereal, production will often wet the ground. Water on the ground reflects light and makes the scene look shiny and bright.
So in a mostly indoor photoshoot like this one at Pasadena City Hall, the rain actually made this engagement session particularly beautiful.
We continued on to Pasadena City Hall, which is picturesque in any weather but was especially beautiful in the pink-tinted, foggy late afternoon light and with the ground shiny from the rain.

Pasadena City Hall is one of the best places in Los Angeles to have your engagement session and is always a favorite engagement session location for my couples.
