Sweet Maternity Portraits at the Los Angeles Arboretum | Emilie + Joseph
There’s truly nothing that compares to getting to document a couple through different seasons of life. I first photographed Emilie and Joseph on a rooftop in Downtown Los Angeles for their engagement, then again on their beautiful wedding day at Serra Plaza in San Juan Capistrano (I have, to this day, still never witnessed a dance floor as wild as theirs). And now, here we are, capturing their growing family with maternity portraits at the Los Angeles Arboretum.
The session was filled with soft light, blooming gardens, and the gentle excitement that comes with preparing for a new chapter. Emilie and Joseph brought their daughter, soon-to-be-older-sister Alana, along for the shoot, which made the day feel even more meaningful. We explored the Arboretum’s lush pathways, pausing for quiet moments and portraits that felt sweet, connected, and joyful.
The Los Angeles Arboretum remains one of my favorite locations for portraits, and it’s an especially lovely space for maternity photos because of its well-maintained walkways through many backdrops.
Seeing their little family prepare for the arrival of their newest member was a reminder of how much love can grow and evolve—gently, beautifully, and right on time.
