The Viral Santa Monica Pier Proposal | Jessica + Nashua

There are certain moments in our lives that feel different, even as we’re experiencing them—moments we know we’ll remember in vivid, full-frame detail. This beautiful proposal of Jessica and Nashua, aided by Jessica’s daughter Taliah, is one of those. Jessica chose the Santa Monica Pier because wanted an audience to witness their love, and I wanted their gallery to be filled with images that recall the brightness of the neon lights, the smell of popcorn, the cool ocean breezes.

The three of them traveled to Arizona for our session, with Nashua under the impression that this was a family session for the three of them. We began by getting Taliah ice cream, exploring the pier, and playing games, before finding our way to the heart of the pier for the proposal.

Both Jessica and their daughter Taliah went on one knee, with Taliah asking, “Will you marry my mom?”

This was a line that was heard around the world, as after I posted the video to TikTok and Instagram, millions saw, liked, and shared it, spreading this little family’s love story far and wide. Stories like these, especially during Pride Month, featuring two loving moms choosing to spend the rest of their lives side by side, are worth more than gold—and I’m beyond honored to have been trusted to capture theirs.
