Intimate Skirball Cultural Center Wedding in Los Angeles

Jewish Wedding at Skirball Cultural Center | Susan + Numik

Susan and Numik’s Skirball Cultural Center wedding, from their intimate first look by the lily pond to a lively outdoor reception under the stars, perfectly honored the couple’s decade-long partnership.

The Skirball Cultural Center, a cultural institution committed to embracing Jewish heritage and embracing diversity, is a beautiful choice for a wedding venue. Modern yet timeless, filled with lush courtyards and modern architecture, Susan and Numik’s wedding was a testament to how a meaningful venue can enhance a day already rich in love and history. I’m honored to share highlights from their wedding below.

First Look by the Lily Pond

Before their guests arrived and the festivities began, the couple chose to share a first look by the Taper Courtyard’s lily pond. The tradition of a private first look is one that resonates perfectly with couples who prefer to spend more of their wedding day by each other’s side, enjoying the day with the one they love most.

Once their guests arrived at the Skirball Cultural Center, the couple signed the Ketubah, their Jewish marriage contract.

Wedding Ceremony Under the Huppah at the Skirball Cultural Center

The formal wedding ceremony took place under a huppah in the Taper Courtyard, by the lily pond. Surrounded by their loved ones, the couple exchanged vows that echoed the dedication they’ve shown each other over the years. The huppah stood as a beautiful representation of the home they will build together for the rest of their lives.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a relaxed cocktail hour on the Garden Terrace, overlooking the courtyard. The terrace provided just the right mix of scenic views and open-air ambiance, giving everyone a chance to celebrate in a casually elegant setting. It was also the perfect opportunity for the newlyweds to catch up with their friends and take sunset portraits together.

Reception Design at this Skirball Cultural Center Wedding

Once the cocktail hour concluded, everyone returned to the Taper Courtyard for an outdoor reception under the stars. The couple began the wedding reception by cutting a loaf of challah bread together, symbolizing their shared future together.

The night continued with nonstop laugher, dancing the horah (complete with chair lifting), and heartfelt moments that mirrored the couple’s warmth and genuine connection. It felt like a true celebration of their history and the new adventures that await them.
