Garden Wedding at Rancho De Las Palmas | Moorpark, California
M + L’s Rancho De Las Palmas wedding in Moorpark, California was as vibrant, heartfelt, and unforgettable as the couple themselves.
THEIR ENGAGEMENT: M & L’s beautiful summer engagement photos were taken at Quail Hill in Irvine.
Why Rancho De Las Palmas is a Stunning Wedding Venue in Moorpark
Tucked into the rolling hills of Moorpark, California, Rancho De Las Palmas feels like a hidden oasis, with palm trees, ponds, and blooming gardens that create a romantic backdrop for wedding photos. From the tree-lined entrance to the sun-dappled ceremony lawn, every corner of this venue offers beautiful spaces for timeless, editorial-style photography.
Hybrid Wedding Photography: Digital and Vintage Film
One of the things I love most about documenting weddings at venues like Rancho De Las Palmas is blending the best of modern digital photography with the nostalgic magic of film. For M + L’s wedding, I captured their day using both digital cameras and vintage film cameras, including my Contax 645, Pentax K1000, and Olympus Stylus Epic ZOOM 115, loaded with dreamy Portra 400 film.
There’s something truly special about film—the soft grain, the way colors feel organic and alive, and the timeless quality that it brings to a wedding gallery. Shooting on film encourages me to take a slower, more intentional approach, and when woven together with digital images, it creates a rich, romantic storytelling experience.

A Private First Look on Rancho De Las Palmas’s Bridge
Before their ceremony, M + L shared a private first look on the picturesque bridge spanning the venue’s central pond. Surrounded by breezy palm fronds and bathed in Southern California sunlight, they read personal vows to each other—a quiet, emotional moment that set the stage for the day ahead.
Afterward, we captured family and wedding party portraits early so they could fully enjoy cocktail hour later on in the day.
