K & A’s The Lodge at Malibou Lake wedding was an effortless blend of romance and fun—just like them. With eucalyptus tones, vibrant wildflower accents, and the fresh energy of spring, their wedding day felt like a true celebration. From their sweet first look along a rose-lined path to literally Rickrolling their guests after their first kiss, every part of the day reflected their playful and thoughtful dynamic.

Nestled in a quiet corner of Agoura Hills in the Santa Monica Mountains, the Lodge at Malibou Lake is a dream wedding venue for couples in search of natural charm and lakeside vibes. With a pretty garden, ivy-covered walls, and serene waterfront views, it creates a perfectly intimate backdrop for a wedding day. K + A’s choice of spring-inspired floral colors, greenery, and relaxed styling complemented the venue’s natural beauty, making the day feel effortlessly cohesive.
Lodge at Malibou Lake Wedding | Bride and Groom Getting Ready
The couple began their day getting ready in separate suites at the Lodge at Malibou Lake. Excitement buzzed as they prepared for their first look, a moment that took place along the venue’s charming rose bush-lined pathway. They took portraits in the garden by the main building, as well as some lighthearted portraits at the venue’s tennis court, a nod to their shared love of the sport.

Their ceremony was sentimental yet unmistakably them, held in the gardens just outside of the Lodge at Malibou Lake. As they exchanged vows under an open and sunny sky, their warmth and humor shone through. And in true K + A fashion, they ended the ceremony by Rickrolling their guests for their recessional song, a surprise that had everyone laughing as they made their way back up the aisle.
Sunset Portraits in the Gardens and by the Lake
During cocktail hour, we took advantage of the golden light and lakeside views for sunset portraits by the water. On our way, we explored the far sides of the garden, making for a cinematic and documentary-style portrait session, truly capturing the magic of the day before the couple rejoined their party for cocktail hour.

With incredible food, decadent desserts, and a packed dance floor, the reception celebration reflected everything K + A love: great company, laughter, and an atmosphere of pure joy. From heartfelt speeches to a lit dance floor, the night felt like a true expression of their love story—fun, sweet, and unforgettable.
Film Wedding Photography at The Lodge at Malibou Lake
In addition to digital photography, I love incorporating film photography throughout the wedding day to bring a timeless, nostalgic feel to the images. Using my Contax 645 medium format camera, Pentax K1000 35mm camera, and Olympus Stylus Epic ZOOM 115, I documented K & A’s wedding with the rich textures and dreamy tones that only film can provide. Film slows everything down, making each frame intentional and filled with emotion—it captures not just how a moment looks, but how it feels. Blending digital and film allows me to tell a more layered and meaningful story, preserving both the crisp clarity of modern photography and the organic beauty of classic film.
